A TOP female stand-up comedian has revealed she 'cannot wait' to make her debut on stage in Burton.
Jo Caulfield, famous for her appearances on Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, will take time out of the limelight to play a special show at the Brewhouse, in Union Street, for comedy fans later this month.
The popular comedian is stopping off in the town as part of her 'Celebration of Anger' tour.
She told the Mail: "I cannot wait to take to the stage and the Brewhouse and I am really excited about appearing in Burton for the first time.
"I have played gigs and events nearby but never actually been to the town before.
"I am looking forward to having a look around beforehand and I am also pleased to be coming to the 'home of ale'.
"I will no doubt be sampling a few of the local tipples during my time in Burton."
Jo has been a regular on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, Have I Got News For You and Mock The Week during the past few years.
"I actually credit a big boom in popularity down to my appearance on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow," she said.
"It put comedy and myself on at prime time to a brand new audience.
"The show was well crafted and well lit and saw comedy come out from being associated with having a dark look and feel to having a modern sheen.
"Appearances on shows like that and Mock the Week have also allowed me to welcome a whole new audience to my shows.
"I now have youngsters who have seen me on those shows coming along to my gigs with their parents, which offers up an interesting dynamic.
"I try not to alter my comedy – if a joke or something I say is funny people should laugh, whether they are old or young."
Jo was recently nominated as 'the best female stand-up in the country' (Chortle.co.uk) and 'one of the top 100 Comedians' (Channel 4).
She was also Graham Norton's head writer for all five seasons of the BAFTA-winning So Graham Norton.
Her show in Burton will focus on her anger and things that irritate her.
She added: "My new show focuses on things that irritate me in life.
"We cannot do a lot about things in our lives but we can have a good old moan about the small things that annoy us and get on our nerves.
"So I will be talking about all manner of topics, including relationships.
"I will also be asking the audience, as they walk in to the event, to write down things that annoy or irritate them.
"Then, at the end of the show, I will read some of these out – something that normally gets a good reaction.
"Sometimes it throws up real local issues and the gig resembles something like a parish meeting – it's really good fun.
"I am really looking forward to heading to Burton, seeing the town and hopefully make a lot of people laugh."
Jo is also a star on the radio with shows including The News Quiz, Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive and The Steve Wright Show, as well as her own critically acclaimed Radio 4 comedy show It's That Jo Caulfield Again.
She will be at the Brewhouse from 8pm on Friday, September 26.
Tickets are priced £14 and £12 concessions. More information is available by calling 01283 508100 or by heading online to www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk/Brewhouse/Events/Pages/Events.aspx
