YOUNGSTERS in Ashby are being offered the chance to learn vital lifesaving skills in the pool.

During classes held at Hood Park Leisure Centre, children will be taught how to rescue people who are in difficulty in water, tow them safely and how to administer lifesaving treatment.

The classes will be split into two age groups, one catering for those aged between eight and 12 and another for those aged 12 and over. A 'come and have a go' taster session is being held at the leisure centre between 4.15 and 6.15pm on Saturday, September 6 and costs £3.

Places can be booked by calling Hood Park Leisure Centre on 01530 412181. Children must be at least eight years old and able to swim 25 metres.
