A SUMMER fun day has been organised this week for children in Burton.

The yearly event, hosted by the Kingfisher Project, will take place at Masefield Crescent Community Gardens this Friday.

Those who attend will be greeted with a barbecue, as well as fun activities including archery, bush craft survival classes, tool making, outdoor cooking, pottery making and willow weaving.

There will also be special appearances from members of Burton Albion Community Trust who will be coming along with some inflatable goals for the children to have their very own penalty shoot-out.

One of the event organisers, Keith Lemare, said: "We've tried to make sure there is something for everyone this year.

"Me and the other organiser, Dawn Maddin, are really looking forward to it.

"It should be a really good day."

Also appearing at the event will be face painters and an exotic animal display, showcasing snakes, lizards and spiders.

Entry to the event is free.

The fun day will open at 11am and will run until 3.30pm.
