AN intrepid nine-year-old battled his way up the highest peak in England in an attempt to raise money for a local organisation.
Kodi Latham pitted himself against people much older and stronger than himself when he scaled Scafell Pike to boost funds for the Star Foundation and Belmont Primary School in Swadlincote, which he attends.
He raised just over £200 with the feat, which he decided to do after his mum climbed Ben Nevis for the charity.
Pete Tryner, from the Star Foundation, said: "Kodi showed amazing resilience and inner strength. When the going got tough he dug in and showed no matter when you think your body has had enough, it can keep going."
Mr Tryner and Belmont head teacher Sue Walker accepted the cheques from Kodi with Councillor Pat Murray, chairman of South Derbyshire District Council.
