Leicestershire County Council iPad plan criticised

A COUNCIL'S plan to spend thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money buying iPads has been criticised by members.

Leicestershire County Council is set to provide each of its members with £454 iPads to allow them to access their emails.

However, many have said they already own the devices, with only 17 of 55 signing up so far.

A council spokesman said the move would make the authority more efficient and help to keep details private, but councillor Terri Enyon said: "In a time of cutbacks, we should not be wasting money on duplicate iPads."
