CONFIDENCE may be soaring among many companies now Britain has exited the recession, but the good times have not returned for everyone, according to the results of a new report.
Figures compiled by business recovery firm Begbies Traynor found that more than 3,000 companies in Leicestershire alone were suffering financial difficulties – an increase of a third on last year.
The report took into account firms with 'critical' issues – those with county court judgements totalling more than £5,000 or which have been served with winding up orders – and also those which had 'significant' problems.
The report found the county had 42 businesses with 'critical' issues in the three months to June, three fewer than the same period last year and the same figure as in the first three months of 2014.
The 33 per cent increase in firms struggling in Leicestershire was in line with much of the country.
The average increase was 34 per cent.
