NEWSLETTERS are being sent to families in North West Leicestershire about major changes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
The county council has sent out more than 1,000 letters to tell people about Government reforms which will see changes to the system for support and assessment to inform them how they will be affected.
The move aims to combine help for education, health and care in one plan and 'fully involve' families in decisions about their support.
Ivan Ould, county council cabinet member for children and families, said: "The reform provides families with more control and flexibility over support and our aim is to ensure that it will improve the lives of children and young people and reduce bureaucracy. We're working closely with families, who are playing a key role in shaping how the changes will be implemented."
