LIBRARIES in and around Burton are celebrating Adult Learners Week with a host of events, activities and services continuing until Saturday.

Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest annual festival of learning, giving people the opportunity to explore many different kinds of learning; whether to get a better job, try something they have always wanted to, or helping their children at school.

Mike Lawrence, Staffordshire County Council’s library chief, said: “Staffordshire County Council is fully committed to supporting this great festival of lifelong learning.

“Adult Learners Week has got an activity for everyone, and is a great way for people to find out about the opportunities that are available to them.

“Whether you’re looking at gaining new skills to improve your current job prospects, learning a new craft, or having a go at something just for fun, this is a great opportunity to go into your local library and try something new.”

Libraries are offering activities such as digital photography, crafting, First World War stories, healthy pursuits, IT sessions and family history.
