BURTON Library will support a day to mark those who died in the Holocaust.
Information boards are already on display at the Riverside site ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day on Monday, January 27.
The boards feature information about the Nazi deathcamp Auschwitz Birkenau – which was liberated 69 years ago.
The theme of this year’s memorial day will be the experience of those caught up in genocide, whether it be journeys of escape, survival or death.
Staffordshire County Council cabinet member for community Mike Lawrence said: “This is a day for us to remember the millions of people killed as a result of Nazi persecution and in more recent atrocities in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.
“On Holocaust Memorial Day we can honour the survivors of genocide, and make a commitment to use the lessons of their experience to influence how we live our lives today.”
All 43 of the county’s libraries will take park in Holocaust Memorial Day.
