A CONVICTED robber has become the latest inmate to abscond from HMP Sudbury.

Steven Donnelly walked out of the category D facility on Wednesday, Derbyshire Police have said.

The 43-year-old was serving a life sentence for robbery and possession of a firearm, which he was handed at Newcastle Upon Tyne Crown Court on September 28, 2005.

Members of the public are being asked to report any sightings of the prisoner to police.

He is described as white, around 6 feet one inch tall and of slim build. He has short, brown hair and blue eyes and speaks with a North Eastern accent.

His last known address was Wallsend in North Tyneside.

Donnelly is the 11th Sudbury inmate to walk out on his sentence since November.

Earlier this week, convicted killer Lee Wheeler was returned to custody when he was arrested by police in Birmingham after absconding before Christmas.
