Commissioned by Hugo Meynell Ingram as a home for his family, Hoar Cross Hall was completed in 1871 and has a distinctive Elizabethan style with Jacobean overtones. Lofty gables, turreted water towers, 48 chimneys and mullioned windows are all excellent examples of the period and exude a level of grandeur that you can’t help but get swept up in.
This strong sense of history and tradition continues as you step inside the grand entrance hall and into the decadent oak-panelled Long Gallery, which spans more than 100 feet in length. Relax with the newspapers of the day and take a moment to soak up the oil paintings, tapestries and breathtaking ornamental ceiling – the work of outstanding Victorian architect George Frederick Bodley
Thanks to a painstaking restoration programme, all the public rooms radiate the same sense of splendour as they did during the years when Hoar Cross Hall was a private residence. Many are still touched by the presence of the Ingram family, from the assertive family motto in the entrance hall to the hand-carved Meynell Ingram monograms in the Ballroom.
Today, the Hall boasts state-of-the-art facilities including tranquil pools, water therapies, health and beauty services, relaxation areas, fitness facilities, indoor and outdoor activities, cafés, restaurants and a bar.
