A SPECIAL charity event at a Burton martial arts academy had helped raise nearly £80 for a good cause.

The Jon Jepson Black Belt Academy, based at Britannia House, in Union Street, held its very own Ramp up the Red event to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Cassandra Fox, spokesman for the academy, said: “We held our ramp up the red at Jon Jepson Black Belt Academy and successfully raised £79.78.”

The Ramp up for Red scheme was set up so that anyone involved would wear red while raising money for the charity.

A spokesman for BHF said: “By organising a Ramp up the Red event and raising money, you’ve helped us save lives.”
