A MEMORIAL which commemorates Burton soldiers who died in the First World War has been renovated.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission carried out the work on the 46th North Midland Division memorial at Vermelles, in France.

The cross is near to the Hohenzollern Redoubt, which Burton men in the 1/6 North Staffordshire Regiment - part of the 46th Division - attacked on October 13, 1915.

A total of 63 men from Burton died in the attack.
