VICTIMS of domestic violence are to be given a boost thanks a group of men putting a rather feminine foot forward for charity.
Organised by East Staffordshire Borough Council, a large group of men are expected to meet at the Mill House, in Stretton, at 1pm tomorrow, to take a stumbling stroll to the Pirelli Stadium – while wearing high heels.
The ‘Walk A Mile In Her Shoes’ campaign is an international initiative by White Ribbon to encourage men to help end violence towards women.
One of the walkers, Phil Goulding, heard about the walk through his wife’s volunteer walk at SARAC, supporting victims of domestic and sexual violence, and opted for stilettos on his mile walk.
He said: “I am a retired head teacher and also a Governor at a school in Leicester so I know the impact that domestic violence can have on children.
“So far, I have raised £260 and all of the staff at school will be sponsoring me as they also understand.
“We will be finishing at the Pirelli Stadium, just before the match.”
