THE Met Office says that it would not class the weather forecast for the week ahead as a 'heatwave' but that it will improve towards the weekend.
Following a wet and windy weekend, conditions are likely to improve this week, with temperatures expected to break into the early 20s on Saturday.
The Met Office said that any reports of a heatwave are not true, but that people should expect to see temperatures increase, which will provide an opportunity to spend time outdoors.
A spokesman told the Mail: "We wouldn't class it as a heatwave, because that needs to be three to five days where temperatures are above 30C, but it will be pleasant.
"The weather will pick up towards the end of the week, with temperatures increasing from around 17 or 18C on Wednesday to 19 or 20 by Friday and it might even reach 21 on Saturday.
"In the Midlands it will be bright and quite mild for the most part, but not necessarily wall-to-wall sunshine."
