MORECAMBE are set to be without two key midfielders for Burton Albion’s visit to the Globe Arena today.

Alex Kenyon is suspended while Andy Fleming looks set to miss out with a knee injury.

The Shrimps elected not to appeal Kenyon’s red card in the abandoned game at Accrington, but feel Peter Murphy’s tackle that left Fleming injured in the same game should have been treated in the same manner.

Boss Jim Bentley said: “I don’t like to tit for tat but I think the tackle on Andy Fleming in the first half by Peter Murphy is just as bad if not worse (than Kenyon’s).

“He’s also barged into Jamie Devitt earlier in the game.

“He’s gone through two bookable offences and the second one could have been a straight red.

“But he only got one talking to in two incidents and then Alex makes one tackle on him and gets sent off.

“The tackle on Andy Fleming has put him out injured now and he’s probably been our best player.

“It was a terrible tackle. I just want a little more consistency from referees.

“That’s what gets managers’ backs up. He’s six yards away from both incidents.”

The extent of Fleming’s injury is not yet known, but he is almost certainly out of for today’s game.

Bentley said: “We don’t know how bad it is yet. But it doesn’t look like he’s going to be fit for the weekend.”

The Shrimps did consider an appeal against Kenyon’s red card before opting to bite the bullet.

“I’ve looked at the incident again and it’s not really worth appealing, said Bentley.

“Financially you’ve got to pay for the appeal, you run the risk of an extra game being added on and the referee’s about six yards away from it so I just don’t think you’d have a chance of winning it.”

Captain Mark Hughes is “touch and go” for the Burton game with a hamstring problem but Andy Parrish is set to return after missing the last two games through illness.

Marcus Marshall remains a long-term absentee.
