A MULTI-AGENCY operation was in force this morning as motorists were pulled over for vehicle checks.

Teams conducting vehicle safety checks outside the Stanhope Arms, in Ashby Road, Bretby, included VOSA (Vehicle and Operations Services Agency), CREST, the Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood team and Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Checks were made on those not wearing seatbelts, using mobile phones, cars running on red diesel as well as lighting offences and illegally tinted windows.

Further information on how many were pulled over for offences will be revealed in Friday’s paper.

The checks follow on from a stop and search initiative held on the A444 Burton Road, Castle Gresley, in October, where 35 people were found not to be wearing seatbelts in just five hours.
