A SHOPAHOLIC was granted her dream 60th birthday present after being handed the chance to shop on her own at her favourite Burton store.

Suzy Peace, of Burton, had told family and friends that her dream birthday gift ,as she reached the milestone age, was to be able to ‘shop till she dropped’ in a deserted Primark, in Coopers Square shopping centre.

Unbeknown to Suzy, her daughter, Louise Ashcroft, contacted bosses at the store to arrange this once-in-a-lifetime surprise.

Her daughter told the Mail: “My mum loves Primark and I wanted to give her a surprise for her 60th birthday.

“I decided to contact the store to see if it would be possible to open early so she could shop alone.

“I was delighted when the store offered a full hour from 8am to 9am for my mum to shop on her birthday and it really made her day.”

After several phone calls and discussions with centre management, it was agreed that the store would open its doors at 8am to allow Suzy to shop for a full hour alone on her birthday.

Veronica Nazir, assistant manager at Primark, said: We have never had a request for a customer to shop alone before and thought it was a lovely idea for a 60th Birthday.

“We were delighted to be able to make her birthday wish come true.

“We all had a great morning and it was so nice to see Suzy enjoying her big day.”

A spokesman for Coopers Square shopping centre said: “Primark granted Suzy her 60th birthday wish by allowing her a full hour of shopping in the store all to herself.

“The store agreed to open at 8am to allow her to shop for a full hour alone on her birthday.

“Suzy’s daughter contacted the Burton store and asked if her mother’s Birthday wish could come true and her wish was granted.”
