FOLLOWING the success of an open gardens event, the Needwood Friends are busy planning more activities in aid of St Giles Hospice.

The event in Rangemore in May raised more than £1,145 for the charity. A further £430 came from the raffle of a handmade quilt.

Now the organisation is planning an afternoon tea event on September 20, from 3pm to 5pm at the church hall in Wales Lane, Barton under Needwood. Tickets cost £3.50 which includes tea, cake and sandwiches.

The Needwood Friends are on the lookout for new volunteers to help raise money for St Giles Hospice and ask anyone interested to contact John on 01283 712613.
