New Environment Secretary must talk to experts, says West Midlands Friends of the Earth

CAMPAIGN group the West Midlands Friends of the Earth has called on the new Environment Secretary to consult experts while in the role.

The group often had a fractious relationship with Owen Paterson, who was replaced in the role by Liz Truss following David Cameron's cabinet reshuffle last week.

Friends of the Earth regional campaigner Chris Crean said: "Liz Truss must make a clean break with her predecessor by backing urgent action to slash emissions, and by speaking to scientists and experts. This isn't about an internecine fight within the Tory party; it is about the future of humanity."
