A LARGER-THAN-LIFE family is showing no sings of slowing down after welcoming its two latest additions.

Bet Pipes became a great-great grandmother for the first time last year, which made hers a five generation family.

But after the arrival of first great-great grandchild, Jayden Coleman, it wasn’t long before another came along, with cousin Lacey Pennycook born only four months later.

And, when not juggling dummies and baby bottles, they decided to share their rather large family with the Mail.

For 90-year-old Mrs Pipes, having such a big family is especially important to her as she lives alone in Church Gresley.

She said: “It’s nice. My son stops with me and takes me out, and it’s nice to see the children whenever I can.”

Christmas certainly is a busy time for Mrs Pipes, who had seven children of her own in addition to the raft of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

And with new mothers Kimberley and Carly having three more sisters, it might not be long before the arrival of the next great-great grandchild.

Nobody was able to say for certain how many people were in the whole family, but it is thought to be more than 50.

Bet’s son Charlie Pipes, next along in the family chain, who played for Gresley Rovers in his heyday, said the whole family had been given a new lease of life after his granddaughters both had babies.

He said: “It’s brilliant that they both had children only a few months apart. It’s great being part of such a big family. I love them all to bits, they are a lovely family.”

But for the family’s younger members, their great-gran is the star of the show.

New mother Kimberley Bourne added: “She lives on her own in a bungalow in Church Gresley. Since her partner died she hasn’t lived with anyone else, so it’s great for her to have such a big family.”
