A NEW chief executive has taken the helm of a hospice which supports seriously ill children in Staffordshire.

Mike McDonald has been appointed to the role at the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice which supports about 180 children with life-limiting conditions.

Mr McDonald, 46, of Shropshire, stepped up from his position as director of finance and resources for the hospice.

He said: “We face some challenging times ahead.

“But with the continued generous support of our local communities we will be able to face them head on to maintain the services relied on by our children and families.

“As a charity, we receive minimal Government funding to provide, let alone grow, these services, so without our supporters we simply wouldn’t exist.”
