NEWHALL United boss Johnny Smith has an injury crisis looming over him as he prepares his side to face struggling Sandiacre Town tomorrow, kick-off 2pm.
The Blues hammered Sandiacre 9-0 at the Hawfields in September and are now on a 10-match unbeaten run in the Midlands Regional Alliance.
But Sandiacre managed to beat Chellaston last week – only their second victory of the season – and Smith is concerned there could be a backlash.
“They’re at their own place and come into the game on the back of a win,” he said. “They’ll be thinking these are the lads who stuffed us earlier in the season and will be looking to get one over us.”
Smith will be missing unavailable right-back Andy Greenhalgh, while striker Shane Potter – who netted six in the annihilation of Chellaston – is out with broken ribs.
Striker Jack Willars, meanwhile, is doubtful with a knee injury and Luke Harris could miss out with a hamstring pull.
To make matters worse, Joe Kilduff is carring a knock on his ankle and Richard Draycott has a knee problem
Lee Croxall will come in at right-back and Johnny Balfour is expected to start up front. James Eames will also step up from the reserve team, possibly with another two players should the likes of Kilduff fail fitness tests.
“It could be a good time to rest players and bring in someone from the reserves,” said Smith. “But ideally I don’t want to make too many changes to the team.”
Newhall drew 0-0 at form side Mickleover RBL last week.
“It was a good old game of football last week,” said Smith.
“It was one of our best of the season.”
