IF you think past the presents, the turkey, meeting up with family, Christmas is also great for one other thing - some cracking festive themed films.
If you look in your TV guide, the next few days will be littered with all manner of films to occupy your mind as you try and recover from the 3,000 or so calories you will have consumed on Christmas Day.
This maybe a cliché but there really is a little something for everyone during the festive season.
However, rather than list those, I thought I would pick out some of my highlights.
Home Alone 1 and 2 - These for me are the top Christmas films. While they are both great films in their own right, they use the Christmas settings to perfection.
They are extremely funny for both adults and children and, if you watch on thing this year, it should be one, if not both of these.
Elf is another classic and one that launched Will Ferrell’s Hollywood career.
He gives a simple but sweet and funny performance and it is a throw back to the days when you could just have a nice, one off little gem to enjoy with the family.
One for the adults would definitely have to be Bad Santa.
Billy Bob Thornton is great as the foul mouthed Santa who likes to steal from the shopping centres he works in.
This really has to be seen to be believed.
I also like to watch Raymond Brigg’s Father Christmas every single year to get me in the festive spirit.
All that is left to say is I hope that all readers have a very Merry Christmas.
