DOCTORS from East Staffordshire have launched a new mobile phone app which will give patients all the information they need about health services.
The new ‘Choose Well’ app, which works on all smartphones, means that people can quickly and easily find information and locate the nearest appropriate services, whatever their health needs.
It includes details about how and when patients should contact health services in the area, opening hours, GPS location and digitally mapped directions right to the front door.
Dr Charles Pidsley, chairman of East Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We know some people feel confused about what services they can access and where.
“Hopefully this app will help explain that and will be with them whenever they have their mobile device handy.
“It will not only provide information about the most appropriate services; it will also show where the nearest services are, and even the opening times, if the device is GPS-enabled.”
The app includes contact information for the following services:
• Minor injury units; and
• Emergency departments.
Dr Pidsley added: “Choose Well aims to better educate patients about the various health services available.
“It encourages self care where appropriate and reduces inappropriate pressure on emergency and primary care services.”
The app even features a 30-second quiz on which services are most appropriate for a range of medical conditions.
