PEOPLE unable to read, or those who live busy lifestyles, can now check out a record number of audio books from Staffordshire libraries.
There are almost 21,000 titles for adults and 10,000 for children on cassette, CD and in MP3 format.
Last year, about 100,000 audio books were loaned out to library users in the county.
Mike Lawrence, the county council’s library boss, said: “Blowing the trumpet for talking books is a great way to demonstrate that local libraries are there for the benefit of the whole community.
“When reading print is not an option, the wide range of audio fiction and non-fiction titles available allow all of us to stay in touch with our favourite reads.
“With audio titles now available in MP3 format, Staffordshire County Council is making sure its library service keeps pace with new technology.”
