A 41-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court charged with attempted grooming after a video was posted on Facebook alleging he had contacted a 14-year-old girl.
Darren Martin, of St Andrews Court, Church Gresley, Swadlincote, entered no plea when he appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Dressed in black jeans, a polo shirt and a navy fleece he confirmed his name, address and date of birth before telling the court he was “indicating no plea” to the charges, which are alleged to have taken place between May 20 and 30.
Magistrate Marcus Doran adjourned the case to Derby Crown Court on January 14 next year.
Martin was bailed on the condition that he is not to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.
A police statement said: "The arrest came after a video was posted on the social network site Facebook alleging that Mr Martin had been in contact with a 14-year-old girl."
