A MAJOR road near Burton had to be closed today after two people were taken to hospital following a crash between a taxi and another car.
Police were called to the A38 near the Shobnall bridge just before 2.15pm this afternoon following reports of a collision between a taxi and a black Vauxhall Insignia.
Officers were required to help manage the traffic and West Midlands Ambulance Service was requested to attend the scene.
A 34-year-old female passenger in the taxi and the driver of the Vauxhall car sustained minor injuries and were transported to Burton’s Queen’s Hospital.
The road was also blocked due to a broken down vehicle just 100 yards from the incident.
The road remained partially closed between the Branston and Clay Mills junctions for much of the afternoon while recovery of the broken down vehicle took place.
