CELEBRITIES and dignitaries have turned out to spend a ‘tenor’ in support of Burton’s very own Pavarotti who has now retired.
Colin Miller, of Gough Side, Burton, had a hair-raising experience for Halloween as hairdresser to the stars, Richard Anthony, chopped off his famous locks all in aid of charity to mark his retirement after 25 years on the lookalike circuit.
Pavarotti was supported through the ‘difficult’ experience, by Simon Cowell, Ricky Tomlinson, Mr Bean, Harry Hill and Elton John, and any money raised from the event will be donated to Burton Hospital’s League of Friends – the very first charity Colin supported when he first started out as the famous tenor.
A large crowd gathered in Cooper’s Square shopping centre yesterday for the Big Shave and asked if he wanted to quit now and run away, Colin said he never would.
Mayor of East Staffordshire, Michael Rodgers, attended to start proceedings and said: “We are here to witness the removal to Colin Miller’s hair and we are treating the event as a fund-raiser for the league of friends.
“I have known Colin for a few years now and he is a wonderful and splendid chap and has always fund-raised for charities over the years.
“He has always been there when people needed him.”
Colin told the crowd: “I don’t quite know what they will find in this beard as I haven’t cut it for 25 years.”
