Burton bakers to rise to the occasion

KEEN bakers in Burton have been urged to enter a cookery competition to have their dish served in nursing homes throughout the country.

The BUPA Bake-Off is scouring the best of British home baking to find a signature dish for BUPA’s Care Homes Communi-tea week which starts on Monday April 15.

The winning dish will be served at BUPA care homes including the Branston Court Nursing Home, and Ashby Court Nursing and Residential Home.To enter post a photograph of the dish and the recipe at www.bupa.co.uk/bakeoff before midnight on Friday March 8.

The recipe with the highest number of votes will then compete against winners from five other heats covering Great Britain.

TV baker Brendan Lynch, who is fronting the competition, said: “We’ve had some great recipes in so far and lots of interest in the competition.

“This is a great cause and one that’s very close to my heart.
