ALMOST a year after missing out on the CAMRA Burton Beer Festival, an East Staffordshire microbrewer has his brews on show at another event — a stone’s throw from the town hall.
Ed Mayman, managing director of the Freedom microbrewery, in Abbots Bromley, was left bitterly disappointed when CAMRA decided last year that his lager did not qualify for its Burton festival because it was poured using CO2.
However, he is now celebrating taking part in a beer festival at the Burton Bridge Brewery-owned Alfred pub, in Derby Street.
He said: “We were delighted to be asked to take part in such a prestigious local festival.
He said: “On the day when Freedom Brewery produces a non-gassy product we’ll probably have them at Burton Beer Festival. But at the moment these products do not meet our requirements.”
