MOTORISTS in Burton have been facing long delays due to roadworks on Hawkins Lane.
Three-way traffic lights are in place on Wharf Road and Hawkins Lane.
Queues coming in to the town went as far back as Derby Road this morning, with some commuters caught in the tailbacks for up to half an hour.
The work is being carried out by Western Power Distribution and is due to end on Thursday. Prior to the works stating the company warned of ‘high impact delays.’
The lights have caused problems from the junction of Wharf Road through to the junction of Horninglow Street.
Reader Michelle Wardle told the Mail that the traffic was still a problem later in the day, with cars queuing up to the roundabout in Derby Road.
