Bigger and better and now back at last

*ALL NOMINATION FOR THE BURTON MAIL BUSINESS AWARDS 2010 ARE NOW CLOSED*

AT LAST, they’re back — and this time they promise to be bigger and better than ever before.

Yes, the Burton Mail Business Awards are returning after a one-year break.

The event has been established to celebrate the achievement and performance of companies across the region including Burton, Swadlincote and Uttoxeter.

Dave Bryon, awards director, said: “The response to the returning awards has been brilliant.

“We have a number of leading players on board and they all very excited about the prospect of being involved.

“It has been a tough time for all types of businesses over the last few years and this is a great chance for people to be rewarded for their success.

“Also, there is a great gala evening at the end which I am sure that everyone will thoroughly enjoy.”
The awards, running in conjunction with East Staffordshire Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council, will honour the area’s Business Personality of the Year and judges will also present an accolade for the Business of the Year at a gala awards evening in October.

Other categories include: Entrepreneur of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Most Promising New Start-up, Employer of the Year, Best Staff Training and Development Programme, Best Coroporate and Social Responsibility Strategy, Most Effective Environmental or Green Initiative, Best Use of Innovation and Technology and finally an award for Business Performance which has Raised the Profile of East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire.

Entries can only be accepted on the official entry forms, which can be downloaded from the awards website and full instructions and details of the entry process is included on all of the forms.

Three finalists for each category will be decided in early September.

A judging panel made up of representatives from the Burton Mail, East Staffordshire Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council will then visit all of the finalists before deciding on a winner.

Staffordshire Newspapers publishing director James Gurney said: “We are very excited to be involved in promoting and celebrating local business in the Burton Mail’s heartland circulation area once again, and know the awards will be a great success.

“Once again we will see the cream of the area’s business community honoured for their outstanding achievements and put the Burton Mail Business Awards firmly back on the business calendar.”
