FRESH faces have filled the corridors of a Burton-based accountancy firm after a major recruitment drive.
Bosses at Dains, a chartered accountancy and business advice company in Burton’s Centrum 100 business park, have taken on new trainees to their tax, audit, recovery and insolvency, and commercial services teams.
The new recruits, who have been registered on the company’s training programme, are Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Angela Pitsillides, Kayleigh Burton and Avais Sharif.
Elliot Bradley, Jake McBride and Lewis Palmer have also been taken on to work in the commercial services department as trainees.
The company normally only recruits graduates, but has started taking on 16 and 17-year-olds who have recently completed GCSEs.
Mike Castree, a partner at Dains, said: “At a time when virtually all sectors of business are keeping an eye on expenditure and perhaps putting future plans for growth on hold, we believe that fostering and retaining the region’s graduates is essential for our business development.
“Our new graduates are a welcome addition to a very strong and committed team and I wish them all the best in their careers with us.”
He continued: “Many of the applicants to the apprentice scheme told us that they wanted to become accountants but had become disillusioned by the university route.
“Many were unhappy about the amount of debt they are likely to run up while studying combined with the reduction in job opportunities when they qualify.
“By going down the apprentice route, students not only receive the necessary funding to complete their technical qualifications but also receive a salary, which means financially they are much better off.
“Dains has a strong learning culture and thanks to their attitude and effort they have fitted into the business very well.”
