A NEW picture framing shop has begun trading in Burton — with a new gallery aiming to promote local artists.
Mita Picture Framing, in, Bridge Street, will offer conventional picture framing services as well as functioning as an art gallery showcasing local talent.
Alan Rogers, who runs the shop with his wife, Denise, said: “I have set up the gallery and shop on an absolute shoestring.
I have created and built all the shop fittings myself and all, or most, of the images on display in the gallery are very close to me — some are my own pencil drawings.
“I am trying to offer as diverse a service as possible, using my years of experience as a graphic designer, to offer such things as old photograph restoration, photographic montages to create celebratory images for weddings, anniversaries and honour awards. We have lots of ideas for the future — for example, an exhibition of the history of Burton.”
