DRIVERS using a busy South Derbyshire route are being urged to make extra time for journeys as major resurfacing works take place.
Large swathes of Hearthcote Road, Swadlincote, is in the process of being dug up and relayed as part of a major project by Derbyshire County Council in the area.
The work is set to last until the middle of next week and traffic signals will be in place to direct traffic during the works.
A spokesman for the authority told the Mail: “Council workers will be undertaking resurfacing works in that area during the next few days.
“It is set to last until the middle of the week, weather permitting.
“It was set to start at the beginning of next work but highways bosses decided to move the work forward in a bid to try and get it finished early.”
