CADETS in Burton are in line to receive a prestigious volunteering award.
The Staffordshire and West Midlands Army Cadet Force has been announced as a recipient of the Queen’s Voluntary Award for voluntary service in 2013.
The award is given to groups which devote time to helping the community.
Colonel Kim Knutten, of the cadet force, who received the award, said she was proud the cadets had been recognised for the services to the community.
She said: “It is a fitting recognition of the efforts and enthusiasm shown by our adult volunteers.”
The award was created to recognise the contributions community and volunteer groups make to society.
It is recognised as having the equivalent status for voluntary groups as the award of the MBE has for individuals.
