A CANOE duo who have paddled down the River Trent to raise money for St Giles Hospice have completed their 55-mile journey in Burton.
Ed Goodall and friend Ant Shanley finished the trip at the town’s Ferry Bridge on Friday, after travelling all the way from Biddulph Moor.
They were on the water for three days in a bid to make the distance, which they were completing in memory of a colleague who died from cancer in 2010.
Mr Goodall, a substance misuse worker from Darlaston, said: “The St Giles Hospice do a lot of good work in Staffordshire.
“Canoeing is something that I do a lot of anyway and we wanted to do something that would be out of our comfort zone.”
The hospice supports people who live in the Burton and South Derbyshire area.
Mr Goodall added that the challenge is in support of their friend, Hannah Parrott, who will complete a 100-mile fund-raising trek through Vietnam next month.
