A TELEGRAPH pole has been destroyed after being hit by a car, cutting off phone lines to residents.
Staffordshire police were called to the scene on the B5017 Forest Road, Burton, at midnight on Tuesday, to reports of a red Vauxhall Vectra which had crashed into a telegraph pole.
When officers arrived, the car had ended up in a hedge and the telegraph pole was on its side.
Fire crews were not needed and no one was taken to hospital.
The scene had been cleared by 10.50am.
Nearby residents believe that at least five or six homes are without telephone lines.
The pole served around 20 homes.
Western Power Distribution said the incident had not been reported to them and the Mail was unable to get hold of BT.
