Cash promise for vulnerable

PLANS to invest an extra £1.7 million in protecting vulnerable children in Leicestershire have been unveiled.

The cash has been earmarked by Leicestershire County Council following the ongoing national rise in the number of children in care and an increase in costs.

Although the authority needs to find £79 million of savings, it wants to target resources at those with greatest need.

The extra investment proposed would be included in the council’s 2013/14 budget and a final decision will be made on February 20.
