A COUNCILLOR has said he would welcome plans which could tidy up an area of Swadlincote.
Neil Tilley, who represents the town on South Derbyshire District Council said plans to turn the derelict Kwik Save, in Alexandra Road, into 51 homes would tidy up the area – an idea he has welcomed.
He said: “The plans have been around for a while and any development on this site would improve the area and give it a lift especially in these economic times.”
Maplevale Developments Ltd, and George LB Ltd, has applied to South Derbyshire District Council for permission to demolish Kwik Save and build 51 homes on the 756 sq metre site.
The store has been empty since the chain closed down in 2007 and has been the subject of applications to turn it into a retirement complex.
