CHURCH volunteers will serve up a three-course dinner with all the trimmings to more than 85 homeless and lonely people on Christmas Day.
Rev Nigel Irons, of All Saints Church, in Branston Road, Burton, has organised the free Christmas feast for 11 years with the help of the town’s YMCA.
He said: “We have around 85 people signed up for the meal and we are going to cater for around 100 just in case.
“This is a rise from around 60 last year and I think that this shows the difficulties that people are now facing.”
Rev Irons said there will he there will also be carol singing and board games to play after the meal.
He added: “We have more than enough volunteers to help with the event and would like to thank everyone who offered to help.
“There are still places left and anyone who would like to come along should get in touch and we will try our best to accommodate.”
