webpicSTAFFORDSHIRE County Council has pledged to work with owners of residential care homes to provide older people with a quality service at an affordable price.
The council has launched a consultation with private care providers on the level of fees it pays for residential places used by the council.
The county council is proposing a “fair and reasonable” increase of 13.2 per cent as the best way to balance the need to support local businesses with value for money for council taxpayers and the priority to ensure high quality of care to those who need it most.
The fair price being proposed means that overall, the Council will be investing an extra £3.8 million into residential care and the local economy.
