SIXTEEN people were being quizzed today after police mounted Burton’s second major drugs operation in a month.
More than 250 police officers and staff converged on the town early yesterday to smash into homes and arrest men and women suspected of supplying narcotics including heroin and crack cocaine.
The dawn raids came on the back of a similar swoop last month, carried out under the force’s county-wide Operation Nemesis.
Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey said: “With a number of suspected drug dealers arrested, we’re disrupting the supply in the town.”
Last night, four men aged 32-47 were charged with conspiracy to supply class ‘A’ drugs.
A Mail reporting team was allowed exclusive access to yesterday’s raids.
