The Coopers Tavern, in Cross Street, scooped the accolade after fighting off competition from 20 other pubs in the region in the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)-run contest.
Landlady Mary Bagley revealed the secret of her success was to ‘constantly keep things fresh for the customers’.
She said: “It was brilliant to hear that we had won the award for the fourth year running and I am really pleased.
“I often get asked the secret of success and in terms of the pub, it is that we always have two perrys and two ciders on at all time.
“We always have a local cider and we have one sweet and one dry, so there is a little something for everyone.
“I also like to regularly change what we have on offer to make sure that people will come back and find something new to whet their appetite.
“I am now anxiously waiting to see whether we scoop the award for best cider pub in the whole country.
“My fingers are crossed and if the pub wins, there will be a huge party.”
Judging is now under way to determine whether the Coopers is named CAMRA’s national cider pub of the year.
The result will be announced in October.
Nik Antona, CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain director and Burton resident, said: “I have to congratulate the Coopers Tavern for scooping the award for the fourth year in a row.
“It is a fantastic achievement for a pub in Staffordshire, especially when the area is not renowned for its cider and also when you consider the other establishments it will come up against.
“Competing with pubs in nearby cider hot spots such as Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire means that what the Coopers Tavern has done is no mean feat.
“It now faces a tough wait to see if it can come out on top in the battle to be named best cider pub in the country.”
