PLEAS are being made to make sure that a Burton suburb is kept litter free.
Members of Brizlincote Parish Council have urged residents to make sure they clean up after themselves while they are out and about in the area.
A spokesman for the council said: “The parish organised two successful litter picking events earlier this year.
“Although the number of volunteers was disappointing the extra little collected in addition to that gathered by East Staffordshire Borough Council.
“Since schools returned in September, there has been a noticeable increase in the amount of litter deposited in the vicinity of the Violet Way area.
“We appeal to parents to encourage their children to take their litter home.
“Some parents collecting pupils from schools have been observed dropping their little from parked cars while wilting for their children.
“This little includes cigarette ends, dummies, sweet wrappers, chewing gum, drink cans and even a bottle of medicine.
“Come on parents, please try and set a good example to their youngsters and don’t drop litter.”
