A CHURCH has raised a significant amount of money towards an essential repair project at a craft fair held last weekend.
A total of £970 was raised at St John’s Church in Newhall on Saturday , when a range of stalls selling items such as cushions and craft materials set up at the church.
Janet Wilson, who was one of the people behind the event, said: “The church wardens are very pleased about the amount of money raised, and that it will be going toward the repair of the tower.”
The project will involve strengthening the rods that connect the pinnacle in the roof of the church.
As well as craft stalls and cushion making, there were stalls selling preserves, jewellery and a café serving snacks and refreshments.
There was also a children’s corner, where youngsters could spend time playing whilst adults browsed the stalls to see what was on offer.

Despite the great amount raised through the event on Saturday, the church still has a long way to go until it reaches its fund-raising total. Around £750 is needed to meet the target.
