Crime down in Swadlincote

REPORTED crime has generally fallen in the South Derbyshire areas.

Sergeant Jim Thompson, who is responsible for the Safer Neighbourhoods team covering Swadlincote, spoke during the Safer Neighbourhood meeting comparing crimes in Gresley, Woodville and Swadlincote from April to December with the same time the year before. There has been a reduction in violent crime, sexual offences, shed and garage thefts, robberies, and vehicle crime, and antisocial behaviour was down by 6.8 per cent. However, there was an increase in burglaries.
