A SPORTS Development Team has received £79,074 from their grant aid application to Staffordshire County Council’s Aiming High Capital Fund.
This project will provide the infrastructure to offer ‘disabled cycling’ to families across East Staffordshire and is the first of its kind in the county.
The application will allow East Staffordshire Borough Council to buy16 adapted bikes, 16 non adapted bikes and a storage facility allowing families to cycle around Shobnall Leisure Complex. Training for staff is also included.
Councillor Bernard Peters, deputy leader for service commissioning, said: “This is fantastic news for families who will be able to cycle on adapted and non adapted bikes in a safe environment.
“Through the council’s Healthy Borough initiative, it continues to show its commitment to providing sporting and healthy opportunities.”
