POLICE have reminded people to keep their windows and doors locked following an attempted burglary in broad daylight.
Offenders attempted to break in to an address in Belvedere Road, Horninglow, at around noon on Saturday, but gave up after being caught in the act while trying to force the back door with a crow bar.
Following the incident Sergeant Bob Champeau, of Burton Police, advised residents to make it as difficult as possible for thieves to enter their homes.
He said: “I would remind residents to lock their doors and windows, even when they are in, and to be aware that burglars can commit crimes at any time, day or night.
“Should people see any suspicious activity they should call police straight away on 101.”
Meanwhile, police received reports of another unsuccessful burglary attempt after a car was targeted in Burton town centre’s Central Area car park on Sunday.
Thieves broke into the Land Rover Defender at around 1.45pm, but nothing was taken.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 388 of March 10.
